cloacking
Just a simple question: Can a partner see a cloacked ship of my, even if he normally can not see one (from the enemy).
And with players joined in a militaire alliance??

Re: cloacking
The plan is for an ally with a partnership treaty to "see what you can see"
So your partner, only, can see a cloaked ship, only if you have cloak penetrating sensors.
Note that his partners can "see what he can see", which includes what he can see beacuse of you. Pay attention to the treaty gird so you don't give your enemy a benefit.

Re: cloacking
There has to be a sensor in the system capable of seeing through the cloak, and I believe you need a Partnership if he has no presence in that system.

Re: cloacking
Also note that a cloaked ship cannot see itself unless it has a scanner on board!

Re: cloacking
oke, but now for another question:
I tried to find it, but wh at will detect cloacking:
Cloacking1 prevens detection for 1 em etc scan, but I couldn't find the device that gave me: detects level 1 cloacked objects (or 2 for resp. cloacking 2).
So which device or facility will detect cloacking for me???
Thanks

Re: cloacking
Tachyon Scanners, Hyper Optics, Psychic Scanners, Temporal Scanners, and Gravitic Scanners. Those names may be wrong, but you get the idea.

Re: cloacking
Any difference between these scanners/sensors besides the cost?
I know that they all scan different things but what I mean is do you have to research only 1 of them to the max level and that's it? There is no cloak higher than the Last level scanner. If that's the case - why so many of them? I mean scanners/sensors.

Re: cloacking
In the unmodded game, all scanners have hte same effects. Cloaking Devices have an equal level of cloaking in all areas. Stealth Armor only hides ships from the basic level 1 EM Active (or is it Passive?) that all ships have built in.

Re: cloacking
Stealth Armor gives level 1 EM Active and level 1 EM Passive cloaking. That's about the only benefit to researching one of the other techs. Tachyon Sensors (EM Active, Sensors tech area) is the most expensive; Hyper Optics is the least expensive to research (EM Passive, Adv. Mil. Sci. tech area).

Re: cloacking
Isn't there any mod that makes the cloacking thing a bit more fair??? I mean Hyper optics is very cheap compared to the other gravitic/tachyon sensors.
It would be nice if the Hyper Optics could only go to level 1, so only are able to detect stealth-armor-cloacked ships, while for the REAL cloaking devices one should research the more expensive gravitic or tachyon sensors.
Now the cloaking devices are worthless.
