This is a fairly comprehensive reference for identifying computer fonts. There is the possibility that it's a custom job of course...

Been there done that, even uploaded a sample of the font and the closest it found was Times New Roman. I don't think their criteria is very well filtered. I also took the time to scan ALL the fonts at myfonts.com... no match found.
