A list of games looking for players?
Would there be any interest in maintaining a list of games looking for new players, either before game start, or because of replacements? I believe it could be useful especially in the later case, as finding replacements can be nigh impossible in some cases (I know I barely managed to find a couple of players for Yarnspinners despite aggressive recruitment).
The list would work pretty much the same as the others stickied threads; it would be locked and stickied, and only the original poster could modify it. Another thread (or PMs) would be used for additions to the thread. I could probably handle it myself, so long as there is any actual interest.
I was also thinking of adding a second part to the list, for players looking for a game or two. This could help when starting new games, as it would allow to know whether some players would be interested or not.
Any thoughts on that? Does it sound remotely useful to players and game owners?

sounds good to me also. Maybe break the group of players looking for a game into beginners, intermediate and advanced players.

Re: A list of games looking for players?
The problem with level players is that not all games require a specific game (besides the ones intended for newer players, and one that wanted experienced players). I had in mind a description of the game part though.
It would go along these lines (in the case of a game looking for players):
- Game host/game name
- PBEM or TCP/IP (with the relevant address)
- Turnaround of the game (enforced deadlines or once everyone has uploaded)
- Nature of the replacement (for the whole game, or temporary)
- Nation(s) looking for a replacement, if applicable
- Map played
- Description of the game (victory conditions, level of players, mods, twists...)
For a player looking for a game, it would be something like:
- Nickname, and contact information (Instant Messaging, mail, or only through the Boards)
- PBEM or TCP/IP, if it matters.
- Preferred turnaround
- Favoured settings, if any (this Last part would mostly be useful to create a game interesting enough players).

This is a great idea, Alneyan. Has there been any progress on it? What does it take to get a sticky thread?

Re: A list of games looking for players?
is this just a list of games for players or players that have spare time. currently i could fillin for someone till jan.
also may i suggest a quick referrence to find the game map/mods etc.(for the computer challenge like myself)
also a question. currently in clash-of-the-titans a few players are on their Last leg. could they drop there current nation and pick a "live" nation allowing the political intergity to continue and lessen the need for subs? (of course the switching player may have to sift there allegiance to match the new nation.)

Re: A list of games looking for players?
I have done little to make the actual list as of yet, both because of a certain lack of interest and of time (exams are so fun), but I will be working on it now.
I was actually planning to put a direct link to the mod/maps needed for all games in the list. You would simply click on the mod/map, and voilà! the file would be downloaded to your computer.
You should ask Jurri (the game host for Clash of the Titans I think) about your Last question Rex_havok. It can be done, but it depends on whether the game host would approve of it. It looks like Clash of the Titans will get back on track, with a player for every nation still alive.
