http://www.pbw.cc for all your gaming needs. Still quite active. Even newbies games starting up still.
The AI in the TDM Modpack is much stronger than in stock and still gives many veterans a run for their money, with the right game settings. I don't play solo anymore, so I don't recall those settings off-hand.
Many people enjoy my Quadrant Mod, as it gives much more intereting maps to play on: http://fqm.spaceempires.net/

Thanks Nightwolf and Imperator Fyron. I think that answers my questions, although I would gladly take some more MOD recommendations.

Re: Questions, questions...
Design Names Anthology, while not a mod, is still quite useful. It adds several hundred new design name files to choose from. http://dna.spaceempires.net/
Pirates and Nomads is definitely worth a play, even if Suicide Junkie never updated it to take advantage of the new 1.91 features. P&N, along with Devnull Mod and TDM, are 3 of the first of the great mods.

Devnull (lacks a website, so you get this)

If you want an incredibly different game, try Adamant. And I do mean different. http://adamant.spaceempires.net/
There are a lot of mods available for download from SpaceEmpires.net, so browse through there at some point.

If you want a few hundred extra shipsets to choose from (never play the same race twice!), you can get the Shipset Archive from:
http://kazharii.no-ip.com:6969
Note that this requires using Bit Torrent, which you can find information on in the stickied "SE4 File Downloads Tracker" thread at the top of this forum.

Re: Questions, questions...
To Imperator Fyron
Thanks a bunch, just what I was looking for. Also will give a good browse through spaceempires.net probably though after I play a few times through. Hence the reason I wan't a few recommendations of ones that are highly recommended. I'm use to Combat Mission games I guess where there are a number of mods that are almost considered required, in that they improve the graphics, textures, etc.
Wow, just browsing the site for Adamant, I'm going to have to try that...but I think I better do a number of games through the first time before I apply any mods that are almost total conversions in a way.
Thanks for all the recommendations!
To Atrocities:
Thanks, Atrocities, I read through all that already, but didn't download that guide. I got it and must say, a great thing to browse through, picked up a bunch of things I didn't know. Thanks!
Definitely into Star Trek as I ran a site for botf way back in the day, so definitely going to to check it out although its going to have to wait abit...22 megs takes a bit for dial-up. Thanks for the heads up!

Re: Questions, questions...
Bit Torrent is a good way to download the files on dialup. It downloads them as small pieces to begin with, so no possibility of having to start over if your download craps out and there is no need to download the entire file at once. It also has a lot of built-in error checking and will redo any pieces that did not transfer correctly, so no need to download the entire file again in that case either. Much, much better than any of those "download accelerators" out there, when available.
Adamant, Image Mod, FQM, and Star Trek Mod are all rather large mods, and are all available on that BT tracker I mentioned before.

Re: Questions, questions...
Ohh, okies. Will definitely make use of that then, didn't know a number of the mods were up on it. Thanks again!
