Re: Two questions
Another question-
Is it ever possible to upgrade a Ringworld into a Sphere?
Do you have to blackhole the system, and start from scratch, or can you destroy the ring, or merely use a sphereworld generator (plus cables and plating) on the ring?

IIRC neither idea will work. I don't believe you can use the black hole generator anymore after the star is built into a RW or SW. Also, since their is technically no star there anymore, you shouldn't be able to use the SW gererator to "upgrade" it.

Re: Two questions
destroy construction with planet killer, create star, build new construction. of course, you can use the constructions spaceyards to build the starbases quickly, and you can take all the population onto transports. its usually more productive just to find another star somewhere else though. not like theres a shortage.

Re: Two questions
Probably a dumb q, but if I put a sphere on the one star in the system, would that cause the planets to turn to ice due to the lack of sunlight?
