Geo, I'm not quite 30, but I remember it. LOL'ed when you reminded me of it.
Atrocities, I friend at work showed me TROOPS. Also a LOL!
Back to the original question....
-Daleks and other stuff from "Dr. Who"
-Space Wolves
-Space Vampires/Undead
-Chthulhu
-D&D in space (there was an expansion like this for D&D called Spacejammer or something like that)
-cartoons (old school and new)
-something plant-like
-sentient viruses/bacteria
-Amazons (mmm... chicks who kick butt!)
Whoops, sorry about the testosterone surge there!

Re: Race Ideas (Poste em)
Terrible Thunderlizards from the Eekstravaganza cartoon. Or maybe it should be called Dinosaur Society
Leader Portrait: General Galapagos ["We dinosaurs are doomed. I just know it."]
Of course, the Terrans might have to be modified with Bill as the leader portrait... ["When does the hurting stop?!"]
Ooo... there's potential for ANOTHER shipset: the Thuggasaurs, with Thuggo as the leader portrait. ["Biff, go destroy those foolish Thunderlizards. The rest of you come with me... my evil lair needs new wallpaper."]

"What do -you- want?" "I'd like to live -just- long enough to be there when they cut off your head and stick it on a pike as a warning to the next ten generations that some favors come with too high a price. I would look up into your lifeless eyes and wave like this..." *waggle* "...can you and your associates arrange that for me, Mr. Morden?"

I'd love to see a Lovecraft Mythos shipset. I'm playing the Mi-Go in one of my PBW games. I gave them Natural Merchants, since they technically don't even need ships for interplanetary flight.

Re: Race Ideas (Poste em)

I'm almost done with both!
There is some clean up work left, but I'll get on it right away. Besides the two sets, there will be an add on pack with almost all the vehicles/mecha seen in the show so you can have what you like, or do what I do and add them all.
There also *might* be enough for a pure Macross (Macross, Macross Plus, Macross7, etc) set. There is some material for the Varatua and Meltrandi, although not enough for a full set for either of them.
I’d like to see:
Aliens
Colonial Marines
Dune
Gundam
A 50’s scifi set would be really cool, of course you’d need tech for it too!
Its just a shame there isn’t enough readily available source material for them (except the 50’s set) to get a whole set done. Maybe someone who has 3d skills could help out there.

Re: Race Ideas (Poste em)
QUOTE:
South Park style set (REALLY badly drawn )
/QUOTE
A while back I thought of doing a Terrance and Phillip shipset. (inspired by the excellent Neo Canadian shipset on USy)
Badly drawn 2D pics with ES, FG, DS on the side in huge letters. Atmos type? Gas/ methane of course.
General message: "Hey, did you hear that? I just farted! Hahahahaha!"
Refuse tribute demand: "Here's a tribute for you: *Ppppbbbt*"
General message: "Pull my finger!"
QUOTE:
Lego shipset (I gave up trying to piece one together ages ago, no artistic ability in this blood ).
/QUOTE
Well, just buy some lego, make some ships, then take photos of them and scan them in=-)
Oh, and someone mentioned a plant-like race: Check out the United Flora on USy.
A "Little shop of Horrors" race/ shipset could be good though.
General message: "Feed me!"
Demand gift: "Feed me now!"
Declaration of war: "FEEEEED ME!"
Other scifi images:
Hitch-hikers Guide (Anyone watching the repeats on UK TV at the moment?)
General message: "I think you ought to know I'm feeling rather depresseed at the moment."
General message: "1:289,591 against and falling..."
Red Dwarf
Offer Tribute: "Would anybody like any toast?"
<Sci fi cast crossover trivia>
Danny John Jules (The Cat in Red Dwarf UK) had a small part in Little Shop of Horrors - he's a dancer in the "Total Eclipse of the sun: It got very Dark" song.
</Sci fi cast crossover trivia>
Damn, I'll be humming Little Shop tunes for the rest of the day now....
"When I was young, just a little kid,
My Momma noticed funny things I did,
Like shootin' puppies with a BB gun,
And poison guppies, and when I was done,
I'd find a kitty cat and bash it's head,
And then one day, my Momma said...
(What did she say?)
She said "my boy some day,
You'll find a way,
to make your natural tendencies pay:
You'll be a dentist"
(you'll be a dentist)
"You've a talent for causing things PAIN!"
(Ooooh!)
"Son be a dentist"
(Son be a dentist)
People pay you to be... inhumane"...
...Can't remember the rest.
------------------
"Pinky, are you pondering what I'm pondering?"
"I think so Brain but, if you replace the P with an O, my name would be Oinky, wouldn't it?"

Re: Race Ideas (Poste em)
Trilobites.
There are lots of images available on the web (sadly I don't have the skill to process them).
Race would have organic and crystaline techs (there was a thread a few days ago showing how to generate the ".emp" for two techs).
Come to think of it, they should be ancient too.
