Re: OT: Unbelievable but true...
You guys should do what we did and make a $2 coin. Much simpler and usefull.

Seconded Narf!
That Said over here in the UK the highest coin value we had was £1, then we had notes from £5 onwards. These days we have a £2 coin which is somewhat common and then the £5 coin, which I have only seen once and looks more like a Discus. I have to admit if someone paid with a $5 coin I would be somewhat suspicious if I had never seen them before.
"hey? hello? HEY!! What is this? Did you steal this out the back of a washing machine? What the hell is this? It looks like some sort of primitive metal frisby to be used as a hunting weapon!"
The problem is, automatic machines (passport photos, vending machines, ticket machines and all those sort of things) rarely accept anything over £1. The wonderful advance of technology huh?

Hey, I didn't know 2$ bills were real untill after my Dad told me he *wasn't* joking about them -- they are extremely rare, which makes finding them difficult. And therefore, most people don't know they exist unless they have been introduced for some specific reason.

Re: OT: Unbelievable but true...
..speaking of Idiots,.. when is the last time you went into a 'Radio Shack' and got a 'knowlegable salesperson'? I've ran into just about every 'idiot' saplesperson in there. I now simply reply to their eager greeting of "Good Day, May I be of Assistance?" with a simple reply.. "Not unless you have more than my 25 years experience in the computer industry."
I mean to sel, computers and not know the difference between SDRam and DDR? and worse than that, not know what kind of RAM the computer in question has. A Typical reply to "How Much Ram does this computer have?" is.. "mm, aaah,.. Oh, it has 80Gig of Ram sir and a 2000mhz processor.."
Anyway, I'm sure this phenomena is not limited to Radio Shack, but they do advertize "You got questions, We got answers!" as their slogan.

Re: OT: Unbelievable but true...
Oh, they have answers alright, just not the ones you want to hear.
It should be called Cellphone Shack and their slogan should be "You've got questions, we've got blank stares. WANNA BUY A CELLHPONE?!?!?!?"

$2 bills are not as rare in certain dancing establishments. They seem to be better to use than the $1 bills in attracting the type of talent ones attends these places to receive.
I once gave a $2 bill as a tip in a restaurant. The waiter basically freaked out and thought I was great for giving such a rare bill as a tip. He said he would take it home and save it. Strange, but better than calling the police.

They're not that rare. You can just walk into a bank and ask for one (either as change, or part of a withdraw transaction... TANSTAAFL). I have one in my wallet right now, in fact.
And I think they might still be printed... I know the year on bills indicates only when the bill was designed, not when it was printed.

Re: OT: Unbelievable but true...
Think I'll go buy some video cables at Best Buy. I'll be bringing some $2.00 bills and some old $1.00 "Silver Certificates" Me needs some damages money for a BMW cycle or Harley.

Re: OT: Unbelievable but true...
I just asked for 2$ bills and was told "no-go".
And I ran into a knowledgeable computer-geek at Radioshack just the other day. Very knowledgeable, in fact.
