That would be shown as X(+), with X being the 'variable', at the level without any pluses or minuses, and the (+) showing that you fluctuate between no plus and one plus. Thus you get an average of a half plus

I think it's actually X(+) is a fluctuation btween X and X=. Like wise, X++(---) would be a fluctuation between X++ and X---

It is. But it shows that you go between 0 +'s, and 1 +'s, which would be a half +.
