So, how to do it? I wonder why Camo used same sounds than in dos-MBT... I got both changed then (I simply copied "better" mel files from other SP games) but I suppose that those *.mel files don't work without converting into some windows compatible sound type? Can anyone help?

Warhero

PS. Before I forget, BIG thanks to SP Camo about this game! Everything looks great (icons, terrain especially)!
mel files are for the DOS Miles Sound System.

We use MP3 files, which are a modern windows compliant compressed format, which can be edited through normal windows sound programmes.

go to \game data\sounds

alternative 1:
Edit the sound in question to what you want to be and/or replace with another file of the same name.

alternative 2:
Leave the existing sound file alone.
Make/find a new one.
Save a copy of sounds.ini as a backup!
Open sounds.ini, and edit the appropriate slot number in [soundeffects] section of the ini file to point to your new filename. (Try click.wav instead of the MP3 click say).

if you want something other than the regular background battle noises (music say ?), the [soundtracks] section of the ini file is for you. You can loop 10 tracks.

The file size for those probably should not be TOO big however! - depends on the free RAM in your own PC most likely. See the existiong battlesounds files. Small song is probably OK, a single MP3 which is an entire 100MB of album will most likely choke the game!.

I think I tried a MID file once, MP3 and WAV definately run.

Enjoy

Cheers
Andy

NB - Null,MP3 is MEANT to be that weird sound, it makes it easier to spot an erronious sound allocation!
