You should hit "Currently Open Games" instead of "All Games"
New games are colour coded green for easier picking too.

P&N Syndicate Wars will be starting in the next 2-3 days, if you want to join... there are already enough players so there won't be any delays.
Its a unique game, where the 8+ Pirate races will compete to see who can gather the most resources in 100 turns or so, by mercilessly plundering the hapless normal races.

I haven't played Dom2 multiplayer, though I did post a couple times on the forum...
I'm always on the #spaceempires IRC channel though.
