Re: R\'lyeh scales bug?
Panther had that problem in a 2vs2 game, but it can target other nations too. In his case, making a few alterations to his Pretender was enough to squash the scales bug dead: he went from Void Lord to Monolith (no longer a secret, as he sent his Pretender to battle).
Other than that, I wouldn't know anything about the scales bug, or how to counter it.

Re: R\'lyeh scales bug?
Well, I remade my pretender too, taking the base 0pt castle instead of the 80pt one, and lo, all my scales appeared. Same chassis, almost the same scales (except that I was able to buy Prod 1 Luck 1 with the 80 points).

Re: R\'lyeh scales bug?
Nope, they've gone again (except Cold & Magic). Is this a feature of an underwater race?? First time I've played one.

Re: R\'lyeh scales bug?
It doesn't necessarily happen no, and it isn't restricted to underwater races according to other players (Quantum Mechani told of a similar occurrence with a land nation... I think it was QM at any rate).
You should try a Monolith and see if it helps; if it does work, it probably means it is indeed Pretender-related, so you could try other hulls then.

Re: R\'lyeh scales bug?
I've had similar bug appearing with TC using Lady of Fortune and Jotuns using Great Mother, so it isn't restricted to just a few nations. Affecting only positive scales and usually happening at turn 2, IIRC. The scales will go back, eventually...

Re: R\'lyeh scales bug?
How high dominion did you have in your home province? IIRC positive scales need positive dominion... But this bug has been reported since very long time, so I don't believe it could be just that.

Re: R\'lyeh scales bug?
Yes, seems most common with water races (hit me very hard playing Atlantis in Gotterdamerung), but I think it can strike any nation.

Erh... on turn 2, when the scales bug strike usually, you *have* positive Dominion in your province, no matter what; if you don't have Dominion in your capitol somehow at that stage of the game, you are dead, so scales no longer matter.
