Re: Something Very Strange
THanks Andy. It had to be my mistake. Nothing with the game. I think, but I'm not sure, that I became distracted for a moment at the end, closed the editor without saving, then reopened it and saved the file.
That is the only thing I could think of...only those who have done such a dumb thing after over 20 hours of work can know how absolutely stupid I feel.
Oh, well! Take a lesson, lads. Save carefully!

Re: Something Very Strange
Right Kunel,
Save early and often. And be careful where you click. I lost a very detailed map of the Malay highlands because I saved another map over it. I'm going to have to go get those photos and recreate the map.

Bill , in a situation like this **IF** you had been playtesting the sceanrio as you were going along that day there would be an autosave of it in the first save slot and although that still leaves you with work to do fixing it up it also means you haven't lost everything. You can convert it to a scenario by renaming the save file the way the scenarios are named.

Re: Something Very Strange
Wow! Great feature, Don. I did not know that. Thank you very much for letting me know this. I did reconstruct it and it came out okay. It will be out there this month.
I really do appreciate your taking the time to let me know this.
I ordered my game today. This is a "Must Have" for all of you. I'm very excited about the extra features included in the game.
SP-Camo deserves this support from all of us.

Re: Something Very Strange
Thanks Troopie! Yeah, I did that. I really did. My blunder was at the end, after all was finished and I clicked out of the editor, then clicked back in and saved.
It was the blunder of a novice and that is the price you pay for getting distracted.
Its all okay now. Its going to be a good one and was worth redoing!

WB - If you are in the Map Editor it saves your work automatically at set intervals as well. It might be doing it quite often too because my screen seems to always be flashing that message in the lower left corner!

Yep, it's autosaved in the new map editor in slot 999. I know it's a bit awkward but it's never likely to be inadvertently used for any other reason back there either. It's intended as an emergency back up. You won't need it very often but it's there when you do.
Just remember the map editor is a MAP editor not a sceanrio editor. Any adjustments to terrain required after troops have started to be placed can only be made with the regular game editor

Re: Something Very Strange
The following change has been added to the patch as detailed in the " What Changes in the CD Version " thread on the main page
47) A safety feature has been added to the scenario editor. The sceanrio editor will now call up the scenario save game list screen on exit from the scenario editor so the user can save off his work in the event "EXIT" was pressed by mistake.

Dankie, Double deuce
I didn't know that. I'm going to check and see if that Malaya map is still there.

As long as that was the last map you worked on in the map editor I would think it would be there.
