I have one of the programmable keys on my keyboard set to a calculator, so there is never any need to go to the desktop to open it.

There are some nice desktops here.

Here is mine. It is still going through some modifications. Along with the menus on top, I have pop-out menus on each side of my screen to access even more programs.

Normally not worth busting out the old HP, it but sure beats start/programs/accessories/calculator every time...
On this computer (the Apple), I just do F12 and use the calculator in Dashboard. For the windows computers, I just do Win+R, calc, return.

The Apple desktop right now is kinda boring... not much there... unless you do what I did for the second one...
