well, it only happened to me once, and in 1.30 or somesuch. it was the Version when they just fixed the AIs use of stellar manip, and i was playing a max tech game with no warp points where I had sealed myself off for about 100 turns to let the computer build up forces before I came out of hiding. so they had a long time to construct whatever wierd stuff is in their build list. I have not actually checked the AI construction file to see how late in the list the stardestroyer component is, but if you have ships in the system, you do indeed get a message indicating that "such-and-such empire has exploded/imploded/ whatever-star" and that you have lost x ships and y planets.

Well, having been a victim of the Torons using a black hole creator on me in a PBW max tech game, I can attest to the fact that the AI does indeed use stellar manipulation. We had a 3 planet start, so I had homeworlds in two different systems. I was under attack by three different AI races including the Torons, and they had breached my warp point defenses on one of my homeworld systems. I concentrated my defensive forces on my homeworld and felt pretty secure until the Torons turned the star into a black hole and wiped everything out.

Tks Puke, this is interesting, Does anyone know if any specific files change depending on which setup one uses?? I was wondering that somethings are seen by some and not by others but most of the time it seems it depends on setup of playing field and what is chosen. SJ, Baron, Atrocities etc, any ideas or imput, do some of the files change as far as what is built, used, etc by the AI depending on initial set-up, where somethings are used by the AI in certain games but not in others??

I think that you don't need something special:
1) The AI must have Stellar Manipulation capabilities.
2) Include the ships into the _AI_Construction_Vehicles.
For example, for my modded races, I have included the construction of a sun destroyer, in the early Infraestructure queue, and I saw both races using these ships very often (in games with all the tech available from the start, or in standard games but after research this tech).

I think that the reason I saw them use it was that the game I was in was a max-tech game with all AI versus all humans. Since the torons were initially isolated from all of the humans, they were not at war with anyone and had time to get to the construction of SM ships.
