Wish Questions
Got a couple of questions about wish and could not find answers on the board earlier.
Can you wish for a summoned creature by name? For instance, in my SP game as Man, I'd like to wish for Pazuzu for the heck of it. Normally, he requires 7B which I don't have... To my knowledge, no one else has summoned him.
If someone has summoned Pazuzu or any other named creature, and I wish for him, will he come with normal magic skills? I seem to have read that wishing for units in this fashion delivers them without leadership and magic. Is this true?
Generally speaking, what are the most effective uses of wish? I know you can wish for gems, etc, but I am guessing strategic use of wish can be a real asset.
Thanks,
L

Re: Wish Questions
you can't wish for pazuzu specifically, but you can wish for what he is. For instance I have wished for another queen of elemental air when I already had them all summoned, And I got an extra one. Yes they show up as a unit and not as a leader, so you have to cast gift of reason on them. When you do cast gift of reason, they will become a leader with all their inherent magic skills.
I have found that wishing for power, provinces, and dominion have interesting effects. I usually end up wishing for ettins (I can't figure out why it doesn't accept ettin monragora) or natarajas... then throwing gift of reason on them and equiping the living snot out of them.
I wished for an immortal once, and got the one that heals units. That was cool.

Re: Wish Questions
actually i think its mandragora ettin, not ettin mandragora. but i cant remember (never wish for a dragon cause without gift of reason he will come in sage form) i also wished for an aboleth once and i got it but its not that good anyway so..... try wishing for items suck as precious or greenstone armour from the troll raider or one of my personal favourite helms (if u already have amon hotem) the sun helm

neither work
and, save for quantum_mechani, I think we all have the critical reading skills to recognize a simple typo when we see one.

Re: Wish Questions
If you tried a wish, and it didn't work, and there's a misspelling in what you wished for. . . it's not ENTIRELY unreasonable to ask if that's cause and effect .

Re: Wish Questions
It might be nice if Wish had a somewhat variable cost based on what you wish for.
And/or, make it so that wishing for something generally hostile, like a devil or especially a Horror, would sometimes (or always) result in one showing up that was not obedient, but attacked either the province or the caster.
After all, a common theme of wishes in literature is to be careful what you wish for, and sometimes, that whatever you wish for, often ends up having unintended side-effects that make you wish you hadn't wished for whatever it was.

Re: Wish Questions
If you wish for "death" or "nothing" it isn't exactly good.
And ettin mandragora does work.
