Re: ETA for SE5?
I never got into the online games, partly because I don't have the money for the montly fees, and partly because I don't have internet at home. At the time I looked into it I couldn't see paying 20-30 dollars each month for the little time I had to play. I did play a free demo of something along the lines of an MMORPG, It was aimed more a kids though. a free trial aimed at kids meant there were alot of people running around not knowing what they were supposed to do. I wouldn't mind trying out something like Guildwars, but for now I'm stuck with single player RPG's

Re: ETA for SE5?
Guild Wars has no monthly fee. You still have to pay for Internet though, which might run around $20 a month for low end DSL from SBC (they have special deals all the time) or similar.

Re: ETA for SE5?
Thats not so bad. It's been a few years since I had internet at home. I gave up when I couldn't find a reliable SP that wouldn't try to shaft me. My current comp isn't worth fixing for internet though. Maybe I'll give it a try sometime.

Re: ETA for SE5?
Wolfman77: You can get around Adoms' total death syndrome by simply copying the savegame into a backup folder.
But in my opinion, this does take away something from the experience. (Doesn't mean I don't do it, though. )

Re: ETA for SE5?
Thought about that. You are probably right about it taking away from the experience, but after spending 15 minutes creating a character, then dieing the first battle. I did that three times trying to figure out the game. Then the next five times I died in the first dungeon, a couple times from starving. Man thats annoying.
I always liked being able to do stuff as slow as I wanted and not being a slave to a timer, but I also don't like to lose something I spent a long time working to build. I realy like the weapon system in the game, and I think I like the magic system, haven't played long enough to see that though. Maybe If I can learn the game a little better I won't need the backups.

Re: ETA for SE5?
Well, that's a perfectly good reason to backup.
Spoiler space in case you don't want some tips.
Tips: Bats, rats, wolves, dogs - As long as the're not rabid, eat the carcass. Doesn't matter if your character isn't hungry.
Doors: Leave the locked ones for last. Then, always kick them from a diagonal, if you can. Some traps only hit the square in front of the door. Won't keep you perfectly safe, but it'll help.
Worms: Unless you want to farm some XP and weapon skills, kill them the instant you see them. They replicate.
Alignment: Don't attack non-hostiles; it moves your alignment towards E.
Scrolls of Identify, Potions of Bless: Use the potion on the scroll. Presto, it now identifies everything in your inventory.
And that's all I can think of now.
