A0 Jeep
I started a scenario with the A0 and FO in jeeps. On turn 4 the enemy bombarded near them causing the A0 jeep to exit the map.
My question is what to do when presented with these situations of mounted HQs and FOs? Should I dismount them first turn and let them march in?
I'm still figuring out spotting too.

Re: A0 Jeep
I started the scen again and found that these are not mounted units. No passengers. Still a bit puzzled.

Re: A0 Jeep
I don't ever buy an FO vehicle because they are easily recognized as such and become a priority target. Your leg FOs are virtually invisable unless you walk a squad right into them. I immediatly kill every FO vehicle I see. If I want to shuttle my leg FOs around I use regular jeeps, APCs or helos, nothing that will attract attention.

Re: A0 Jeep
In campaign games, I usually retreat the AO off-map because it has soo little firepower and if you loose it you loose the campaign. But in single-player, I treat it as just another infantry unit. Whether or not to keep it mounted depends on how many AT weapons your enemy has. Obviously, it's not a good idea to mount your AO in a jeep to stay with your armor troops as they encounter ATGMs!

Mustang,
you surely don't have much faith in the command structure, do you?!

Re: A0 Jeep
I just don't need the A0 commander very much. So what, he helps with rallying, but that's it. In a campaign, I keep him off-map or in a very safe place (like under heavy armor), being the cowardly tactical leader that I am. In single scenarios the AO can help a lot, and I just throw it away like a regular infantry unit. But it's kind of worthless in armor battles to have an infantry guy running around in a jeep through artillery barrages and tank fire, isn't it?

Re: A0 Jeep
When playing a campaign I try to get the AO some easy kills, epecially if the battle becomes a rout. This is the best way to increase a units experience. I do the same for FOs. Having these units become elite in your core makes a formidable force.

Re: A0 Jeep
This was a scenario, not my choice. On the second try the A0 got toasted and the jeep showed abandoned.
Sometimes the AI gets lucky with it's arty strikes.

Re: A0 Jeep
I tend to play tank - heavy units (both in SPWW2 and SPMBT) and in that case my first upgrade is to mount my (Bn) commander (A0) into a good and most of all survivable tank. Then get cheap kills and see experience rise...
