Re: Delivery to Germany
Thank you very much.
That is good news.
Where did you get that information? Maybe I could investigate further.

Re: Delivery to Germany
A buddy of mine called the customs information center.
Anything with forbidden symbols will be confiscated if found and there will be trouble with the authorities.
I don't think higher resolutions are worth the trouble.
It is probably too late to produce a swastika-free version, but in the future it could help raising the sales in Germany.

Re: Delivery to Germany
Is there swastika on game cover? if not, i doubt customs will play game to see if there is swastika used in game
Personally i think it's ridiculous how many games are crippled in europe because germanys law in this matter, like real historical markings like swastika in a wargame would make player a nazi or something...stupid politics, luckily most game have patches to add right markings afterwards.

Re: Delivery to Germany
Nobody knows if there is a swastika on the cover, except for the cover-designers.
I could wait until the first shipments arrive and ask if there are any swastikas on the cover. But I would lose the preorder savings, and the price is quite steep with shipping overseas and import tax.
I think I will be content with the download version for now.

Re: Delivery to Germany
There are no swastikas on the cover of the CD package. The artwork is a large version of the three tanks you see at the top of the forums when the advertisment for the game appears.
There are files included with the game ( both DL and CD ) that allow players to convert the historical flag to the politically correct version . Look in the folder
WinSPWW2\Game Data\Graphics\German Cross
We have been releasing the game like this with the "alternate flags" in a separate folder since 1999 and I have never had a report from anyone in Germany having a problem with the authorities

Re: Delivery to Germany
Thank you for the answer.
That there are no swastikas on the cover is indeed good news.
Since English is not my mother tongue, does "cover" include the back?
I am already using the iron crosses, but the german authorities...
Please correct if I'm wrong, but isn't this the first version which has to pass customs?

Yes it does. There are no swastikas anywhere on the packaging

Yes and no..... SPWW2 was offered as a freebie on CD's included with a couple of European magazines in the past ( CyberStratege back in 2000 and KOMPUTER FOR ALLE in 2003 and I know for certain that they installed the historical flags as default. CyberStratege was a French magazine and KOMPUTER FOR ALLE was published in Scandinavia and although I cannot say 100% they were never shipped to Germany I find it unlikely
