What Mods have the best AI\'s for SE4?
I am aware that there are AI mods that greatly increase AI of SE4, but leave all other aspects of the game untouched, but I am really bored with the unmodifed SE4, so I was wondering if you guys knew of any good mods (IE. Star Trek, Proportions, Etc.) that have good AI's.
Currently, I am playing the Star Trek Mod on difficult, with a low bonus to the AI, and the AI is doing well against me, but I am looking for other mods like Star Trek that has a good AI.
I appreciate the time you take and if your strapped, just a simple list of mod names would be sufficient (I can find them and do the research).
Also I wanted to get into the PBW as a prelude to SE5 and so I was wondering if there was a thread or some sort of instructions which would allow me to get my foot in the door for PBW.
Once again, Thank you for your time.

AI Campaigns mod (a.k.a. AIC mod) is a mod designed to add fine-tuned AI and also balance the game for challenging play against the AI. It is based on Proportions mod and adds changes made by JLC.

Re: What Mods have the best AI\'s for SE4?
the AI in Carrier Battles Mod v1.5 is unsurpassed. In all other mods, you have to dumb down your playing style (no mines, no intel, no tech trading, etc.) to make the AI competative.
Thanks to the nature of the mod its self, and Rollo's insane AI scripting, this mod presents challenging AI, even without a bonus. (of course, you still have to set it to 'hard')

My CBmod has great AI thanks to Rollo.

PS: don't let the name fool you. Carriers are important, but bombardment ships, PD ships, close assault gunboats and troop transports are all equally important.
And, if you were to play against the AI on low bonus, they would quickly overwhelm your navy and then storm all your planets with troops
...Even I play against them on *No* bonus...

As for getting set up with PBW, first you will need to get yourself a login.
Visit http://seiv.pbw.cc and register. You will get emailed a random password to use.
NOTE: The login is case sensitive!
NOTE2: When you visit, the first page you see offers a choice of graphical or text version. The graphical side looks better and works great for day-to-day use. If you get any odd errors, try the text side; it is sure to work.
Once you are logged in, press the games button (either the shooting-ship icon(graphics side), or the button marked games (text side))
This will show you a list of all the games you are in, and their current status (ready, needs empire, needs turn, processing in progress, etc) When you have joined some games, you can click the game name to go to the game screen. And from there, you can download your turns, upload your files, and visit the game's private forums among other things.
Since you are not in any games, the screen will be blank.
Click the "open games" or "all games" buttons (fleet icons in graphics mode) to view a list of existing games.
If the game has not started, and is not full, or if the game needs a replacement player, you can click the name to jump to that game's game screen.
There, you can press join (lightning bolt on graphics) to sign up for it. Once the game's owner accepts you, you can start playing.
Note: In the case of a new game, you will need to upload an empire file for the game master to use before the game can start.

The Ai of the Star Trek mod is nothing to laugh at either. STM is a good alternative for those who want to play a good star trek style game.

This applies in the other direction as well; if you get an error on the text side, try the graphic side. PBW's text UI generally gets along better with non-IE browsers than the graphics side does.

Re: What Mods have the best AI\'s for SE4?
Rollo himself tried Low Bonus... and enemy troops had captured all his colonies by turn 35!

Re: What Mods have the best AI\'s for SE4?
Thank you for your help. I think I will try the Carrier Battles Mod after I finish up with my Star Trek game. CB Mod sounds intense. I took down the list and I will play them one by one. I will also try to start some PBW games, so be on the lookout for me. Thank you for your quick percise answers.

You'd call me conservative, but TDM and its derivatives have best AI I've seen. Hail to a mother of all AI mods!
