Re: Dominions 3 development news
I dont know why. The changes seem to be mostly "good idea" changes and little thematic tweaking. Nothing that couldnt have been released in a game. It really only has to be crash-free in order to make the release date. As long as no large changes are made that add crash-bugs I think we are ok.
If you think Johan will hit a gap of no changes at all prior to the release then you havent been paying attention during the previous 2 versions.

Re: Dominions 3 development news
It can't hit gold until 3.00, which will be a while at the current patch rate. Version 2.84 would still be Dominions II.

Yup.
Oh and as for the current delay I think it might have something to do with scandinavian midsummer traditions...midsummer is celebrated in Finland (ok we're not scandis) and I remember swedes had their own "midsommaren" funs.

Re: Dominions 3 development news
What's a "skybox" and why are they having so much trouble with it?

The skybox is a 3d cube with a sky wallpaper on it. It makes it look like you can see far into the distance instead of that boring fog/darkness that makes it look like you are inside a steamy sauna.
And it's working fine now.
