Time managment???

On the star map screen, if I click play (>) or fast forward (>>) time advances at the same tremendious rate. What good is this and if they both advance at the same rate why are there two controls?

I use fast forward if I have to go thru nebula without a nebular drive.

The 'play' button I don't really use, but some do, to wait for things like novas to collapse, or to put the Kawangi in just the right place to blow them up.

Fast forward is for travel, forward is for sitting around.
