Well, it's nice you enjoyed it but I have no idea your teacher forced you to read it.

Long ago in highschool some stupid teacher made our class watch his favorite old movie(black-n-white) and then write a report about the movie. The Waterfront - I think
The movie was just okay... dull at times... but the teacher was stupid.

I thought that Deliverence was the classic American film, hehe.
Back on topic, isn't Illwinter paying Shrapnel to have a pretty website? I've actually had quite a few problems these past few weeks at work trying to find supplier contacts because companies that don't even sell to the public directly had websites with more pretty than useful bits. I even broke down and called corporate HQ for a supplier to ask for the right contact number once.

Re: Dominions 3 Page at Illwinter!
First that list came from only two movie critics... not all of america. Second 75% of their "100 best of all time movies" listed were made before 1980. So when you say it's considered one of the classic films of all time... you found two people to agree with that.
Movie magazine critics hold as much value as Game magazine critics... they are just one persons view.

Re: Dominions 3 Page at Illwinter!
That article was only cited as a piece of evidence. In general, that is what it is considered. That understanding comes from a general knowledge of film. You could find many more sources which support this view. It does not mean that the whole thing is based on one article.
Brothers K is considered Doestoevskii's best novel. I could cite a source for that, but that would not mean that is the only person who thinks so. But in a general understanding of literature, that is the prevailing view.
In any case, it is not important.

It was a piece of evidence, but again it's only the view of two people making it weak evidence at best. Other sources can be found to support the opinion of those two people, but I could easily find a greater number of sources which have a different top-100 list. Point being I'm sure during the mid-80s this was an american classic, but in this century of america it's no longer in the top 100 classics for the majority of america.

Re: Dominions 3 Page at Illwinter!
Yeah - instead now, "Dumb and Dumberer", "Hostel", and "Freddie Got Fingered" are considered classics. *snicker*
More seriously - some movies and books were/are considered classics but really have to be taken in terms of the social context when they were made. Looking at them decades later, they lack the impact they once had - for example, Salinger's "Catcher in the Rye" was considered shocking and scandalous when published; similarly, "To Kill a Mockingbird" was amazing because at the time, the concepts in the book were unheard of (a well-to-do white lawyer defending a poor black accused of rape, just because it was the right thing to do? Inconceivable!!!).
That said, some of those classics hold up better over time than others, both movies and books. Look at old SF movies : many of them wind up seeming dated, because their utopian or distopian vision of the future is ridiculous now that our present day is that movie's future. Or, their special effects seem lame compared to today's CGI wizardry. Still - Ray Harryhausen's stop motion dinosaurs and monsters were amazing in their day. And then there are the SF classics that still hold up over time, "BladeRunner" being a perfect example, where "Star Wars" can now be viewed as a simplistic western in outer space.

Well I wouldn't consider those classics... but that's just my one opinion.
