None, Kwok. They are all dead.

Re: Crew Insurrection Bug?
Sorry I misinterpreted that you might have captured a few planets or something. This leads to population under the Abbidon flag, of which belong to your empire. In that case, this ship rebellion might actually be somewhat appropriate.

Re: Crew Insurrection Bug?
It is entirely possible that you merely lost contact with them.
If they've got ships and you wipe out their last planet, you lose contact in SE4 too. The ships survive on stored resources plus the minimum point generation settings for a while.

Re: Crew Insurrection Bug?
That is a good idea, but theye are all dead. Even if they had a ship still alive somewhere how would they generate the intel points to cause an insurrection when I have 1/2 of my 22,000 intel points going to defense. But they are definitely all dead.

Re: Crew Insurrection Bug?
Assuming it works in a similar way to SEIV...
It could even be that when you wiped out the Abbidon and lost contact they had a coloniser or troop transport out in the sticks somewhere, that subsequently went on to claim them a new planet and re-found their empire.
Of course under those circumstances they should be unable to carry out intel against you because contact was broken and hadn't been re-established. (So it's still a bug).
However I like the idea of conquered species forming resistance groups, and the game handling it as intel attacks against you. In this case though, the game should (a) allow you to mod it out if you like, (b) make any such attacks subject to counter-intel and (c) make it clear in the log message exactly what has happened: "Insurgents loyal to the conquered Abbidon regime have seized control of our ship Almighty Skybastard XV! They must be stopped!"
And of course they needn't be restricted to crew insurrection: Any offensive intel would do: Hell, with a PPP-like project, a conquered race could actually come back into the game! Of course that's all very well for AIs, but I'm not sure how to handle a human player that gets wiped out.

Re: Crew Insurrection Bug?
Twice I've gained ships from empires I hadn't met yet... very early in game, so probably random events.

I've only played half of one game, but I got a space station at about turn 20 from a xenophobic race that I had never met, that was about 7 systems away from my nearest system. (In fact, they were my first contact.) They immediately got mad and demanded that I leave their system. I tried to make a non-agresssion treaty, but they were too xenophobic. Then I tried gifting them the station, but they kept refusing it. Even said they were insulted by my gift. (LOL! THEY built the crappy thing!) I tried to have it self-destruct, but apparently that only works if the vessel has a self-destruct device. In the end, the aliens built a ridiculously over-sized attack fleet and destroyed it. (It's the only real battle I've had so far, even though there are 7 empires, it is turn 60, and I appear to own 1/3 of the systems in the galaxy. I finally found another race a few turns ago.)
Anyway, getting back on topic, I THINK that the crew insurrected, either as a random bad event or due to another race's intel against my xenophobe acquaintances. And I THINK that the program is set up so that insurrecting crews automatically join a nearby empire. (nearest? most powerful? random? some combo?) And perhaps there is also a bug that fails to exclude dead empires.
If crews sometimes insurrect as a random bad event, that has some interesting consequences for gameplay. What if this happens to one of your new Deathstar ships? In your home system? Which was fully protected from sneak attack, and thus has poor planetary defenses? Noooooooooooooooo!

Re: Crew Insurrection Bug?
Meh, even if it's a bug, it's still kinda cool. Kind of like the last few rebels of the race coming out to avenge their exterminated race.
Weee, cheesy sci-fi plots abound! (Speaking of which, I should really get back to writing again.)

Re: Crew Insurrection Bug?
I dunno, sounds more like a bug to me.

No, I never captured their planets. I glassed them and re-colonized.
