BitTorrent is like many things on the net, such as anonymous servers. The good intentions are massacred by what 95% of it is actually used for.

Freedom on the internet was misleading anyway. It was never part of the design, it just got out of control.

The internet is a totally democratic system trying to manage millions of small tyrannys. Rather like the UN.

If it’s like the UN, then where is all of the graft and corruption? Oh…Never mind, I forgot. We told the UN that the Internet was hands off to them.

We already saw how to bring the internet down recently. An un-named African country didn’t pay its satellite bandwidth bill, and the internet went down. I guess they need to start taxing the spammers so that they can keep them connected.

Right now the internet's DNS system is vulnerable to attack. Most people think that any serious attack would be targeted at these servers. So keep your host files up to date, just in case

I suppose next you'll want to ban FTP because it can be used for the same thing?

The point of the article doesn't hinge on what BitTorrent is used for, just that it exists and isn't going away (very nice protocol BTW. Most recent file showed 900 kb/s with it vs 200kb/s via the FTP server that was also available)

Did I say I wanted to ban it? The same could be said of email or www or ssh or irc. The protocols cant be blamed for the users.

By Day 2, the SE5 demo was being dished out at >500kb/s too.
