Thoughts on Early Agartha
What do you people think of Early Agartha? I've been playing around with them.
They're very interesting, even though the vulnerability to missile weapons can be rather annoying at times. I've been using a W9/E4 Olm with them.
I can see them being powerful Magma caster but the lack of precision will propably hamper them.
I love making fiery armies with Rhuax Pact though, that spell must be my new fave spell.

Re: Thoughts on Early Agartha
In the irc, some further weaknesses have risen up. They have low attack, defense and precision. I've been arguing that in some cases high strength allows them to deal damage even when a shield parry is succesful, but they don't believe me yet.
Even the smaller Agarthans are size 3, which is a bit of a disadvantage. Everyone seems to agree that Troglodytes are good.

Yeah I noticed that they are rather clumsy. =/ I wonder how some Fire would work for them...hmmmm.
I wonder what is a good research route them.

Re: Thoughts on Early Agartha
Just been playing early agartha, taking huge losses. The low protection in early age is a killer, u seem to lose forces at a far faster rate. Had indies on 9. Those boulder throwers looked interesting but I am finding they get involved in melee combat, rather than boulder throwing. The problem is they ony have a range of 6, str 20/3. Need to give them a strengh boost! I am sure they could be made good, when they hit with a boulder they r doing 20+ damage.
Going off topic slightly, played the apemen, excellent ranged weapons (longbows straight away), dirt cheap as well, but no real decent front line troops to defend them. Again the low protection hurts.

Yea, but even those r only 10 or so protection. Playing Dom2 demo 9/10 battles I was only taking 0 - 10 or so losses, even battles I lost I was inflicting 3 times losses on the enemy. Dom 3 early age, taking 4 times the losses, also even with a priest to bolster morale, its a toss of the coin who runs 1st. The low protection is the reason why, any nations who can get high protection on there troops has a significant advantage early on.
Probably just need time to adjust.

Re: Thoughts on Early Agartha
BTW, Barathrus pact is also a great spell. It summons an Earth Elemental that stays on the strategic map.
I can also imagine that the Army of Gold/Lead spells would be very useful for Agartha.

Re: Thoughts on Early Agartha
I think that shooting for Conj 3 ASAP is a good plan as Agartha. 5 Magma Children for 2 gems (!!!) is nothing to scoff at and the Earth Elementals are great arrow pincushions and tramplers.
The Magma Children are really, really easy to mass since every four of the Earth Readers can cast it. They work well in synerge with for example a Red Dragon pretender. The MG's are kind of vulnerable to ranged attacks, especially javelins, but their attack does nasty damage on ordinary, and even a bit more extraordinary units.

Re: Thoughts on Early Agartha
I like them tbh. However, I can't wait to play LE Agartha. That will be the real deal.
