Few questions about finding items after battle
What are the chances of finding items on the battlefield on dead enemy commanders?
Does it depends of the item? (more valuable - easer to spot maybe?)

Does it depends on how many of your own commanders have survived the battle? (the more people looking - the better chances?) Do attributes of your surviving commanders matter?

Can you still find the item if enemy commander fleed and died while retreating after the battle? What if it was idep provinse?

So basically - what is the formula behind this event?

 Thanks a lot.

Re: Few questions about finding items after battle
IIRC the chance is only tied to item "power" -ie Cons level, it goes 20-40-60-80% for levels 0-2-4-6-8.Artifacts (level 8) can be "lost" this way and then reforged.
It works same with any indeps item.

Cursed items are much more likely to be found. |

Ahh, I see, thank you. And how many commanders you have in the province after the battle does not matter, right? |

I thought unique items were guaranteed to be found? |

 | No, they can be lost, though it is unlikely. Don't attack thug quality units with SCs loaded with artifacts. it can be... frustrating to see some of the most powerfull artifacts turned around and coming straight back at you...

 | Unless things have changed a lot, there are two kinds of such items: artifacts that can be forged at level 8, and unique items found on special commanders like Solaris.

The latter kind requires Construction 12, so the odd of finding them is higher than 100%; I've yet to see one of those items disappear myself (except by lack of slots, of course). |

I think he means items that cant be forged. You either have to wish for them or kill a special commander. |

 | Solaris stuff was Construction 12 back in Dom II, a magic number that basically means "does exist, but you're not gonna forge it, ever".

I doubt the magic number has been changed since then... and perhaps I should update the Null Item mod, one of those days.

PDF's formula does not specify any clear answer for level 0 items; they can be picked up, with odds around 20% according to my experiment. So, is the odd equal to level 2 items (20% for both), or is it (20% + level of item)? The latter would mean "level 8 items are always picked up"; I doubt that's the case, but I cannot check at present. |
