I'm wondering whether I need to repatch all the AIs for P&N.

I recall that the strategy for satellites and weapon platforms was changed in the files, but otherwise it's all the same.

Note though, that with the research percentages finally working, the older AIs' research files may not be as efficient as they used to be.

Hmm... Not as many replies as I had hoped. So, I'll ask this: What is the future of the AI?

Is it doomed to be poor forever due to the openess of the design? It seems here that what is good for the modding is not so good for the playing..

More importantly, is SEIV forever going to be no more than just a space exploration construction set? That would be sad..

The future of the AI depends upon us and what feed back we give Aaron and the AI modders. Right now, the future of AI looks like it did 4 patches ago, ongoing.

What I would like to see is the addition of an Aggression Text file. This file will should be a text base file that can be editted, and modified.

The purpose of the Aggression file would be to simply help the AI to more aggressively determine its course of action during conflicts such as WAR. Read more @ Aggression Thread

The AI is slowllly improving but still needs work. One thing I would like to see is that unless you actually send the AI a message that you declare war against them, they do not go to a war footing/production, no matter how many of their planets or units you glaze. As long as you don't actually declare war, you can take out Ai ships and planets and not be at war and the AI never goes to war production. I feel that this should be addressed. At least if you glaze or capture a planet AI should at least declare war or make it so you can't take out a planet and/or capture one unless you send a declaration of war or make it so this automatically takes place. As for units I you could probably leave as is unless it was a colony ship.
