Re: Late Era Random Map (Full up, please stand by)
I just tried 72.138.191.35 and port 1113. Still timed out.

Bah... I can't think of what else it might be. I guess that's game over. If anything comes up, I'll bump this. Thanks for participating, everyone, and sorry I couldn't follow through.

Re: Late Era Random Map (Full up, please stand by)
Oh no, I was really looking forward to this one! Surely we can overcome technical issues? If there's a computer and an internet connection it must be doable.
Have you checked port forwarding on your router? By default routers block almost all ports. This is a separate thing from firewalls, so the signal never gets to your computer even if your firewall is off.
If your router is anything like my old one, you have to go to 192.168.0.1 in internet explorer to access it's setup page, then look for the "port forwarding" option. Sorry if you already know all this.

Re: Late Era Random Map (Full up, please stand by)
Actually, that's new to me. At any rate, these computers have tight security for a reason, (You should have seen the time we had setting up Xbox Live. The Wii still doesn't work online.) and I probably shouldn't go messing with it. Besides, this isn't even the master computer.
Again, I'm really sorry. I was looking forward to this one too, and it probably would've been the first in many more to come. I really don't want to give up hosting, but I'm thinking there's no real choice. If anything comes up, I'll be sure to share it...

Re: Late Era Random Map (Full up, please stand by)
Well okay, it is a pity. You could just have a look at your router page, it's actually generally very self-explanatory, and as I understand it opening an arbitrary port doesn't represent a security risk at all (you already have quite a few open ports, e.g. one for the internet, one for e-mail). But no worries if you're not comfortable with it.
I wish I could host, but my computer's by my bed and ridiculously loud, so I could never leave it on all the time.

Re: Late Era Random Map (Full up, please stand by)
It's not that I'm uncomfortable with this, but my father works out of home and has important files. That's the main reason. If it doesn't pose a security risk, I should be able to petition to open one up. Many thanks, I'll post if there's anything to post about.
