Re: SE5 patch 1.20 is out
Why'd you stick the screenshot in a doc file?
At any rate, unless I miss my guess that's a minefield icon, and your ships aren't moving onto it because they don't want to die. Either clear the "ships won't move into minefields" setting or select the hex and clear the marker..

Re: SE5 patch 1.20 is out
Well because I couldn't remember what the save screen shot in game commmand was, and it's not in the manual. It's funny that when I first attacked those planets there were minefields, and they went right ahead with the attack and said they'd cleared xx number of mines? There are sweepers present, so why wouldn't they move onto minefields?

And where might the "ships won't move into minefield" setting that doesn't work on the initial attack reside?

empire options. If you don't know mines are there- if there are no markers- the ships will always move there.

Re: SE5 patch 1.20 is out
OK, so just because I see them in the flag display doesn't mean the ships know that they are there. Thanks! OH, and how do I save a screenshot to disk from the game?
Well, I went and unchecked that box, and the ships now move onto those planets, but no boom, and no mine sweeping? OK, after processing two turns the minefield indicators are gone...

Re: SE5 patch 1.20 is out
Do you have a treaty with the owner of the mines which includes minefield code sharing?

Re: SE5 patch 1.20 is out
I suspect you blew all the mines away than, but the icon should disappear or you might need to go and unset that area as a mine field. Do we still have that ability in SE5, to mark known minefields? As for the screen shot; the way I do it is to take the shot (Ctrl + Print Screen) then paste it into a pic editing software. I use PhotoStudio 5.5 (the program I did your rank with) but Windows paint works just as well. I suggest saving the photo as something other than a bmp though to conserve size and upload/download time. Speaking of your rank Sergeant comes at 200 so PM me around 190 and I will fix it up.

Re: SE5 patch 1.20 is out
Hi PES! I took the print the same way, I just slapped it into word without thinking about it really. Many games have the ability to save a screenshot as a jpg to the game directory and I couldn't remember if SEIV or V allowed this. Would be nice if it did! Thanks for the avatar help!!
Ed, no this is a neutral that finally threw his sucker in the dirt and declared war on me... took him long enough <lol>.
This is from an old save from 1.17, not even playing really, just BS'ing around to learn the game and check for bugs. Looks like Aaron addressed quite a few issues with this patch, although that fleet splitting bug still irritates the bejeepers out of me, at least I can rejoin them now.

Re: SE5 patch 1.20 is out
If I understood CPT Kwok right mines have become uncloaked somehow with this patch. I suspect it may be related to the Active and passive scope attached to the hulls. Besides the mines may have been cloaked before you first attacked but after that your ships know they are there so there should be an icon; but white stars? That crap needs moded out ASAP, anyone know where the setting/bmp for it is?

There is a problem with minefield marking. When your ships successfully SWEEP the mines, the sector should NOT be marked as a minefield -- you just cleared it! This is a mistake. We should request that MM change this so that only when all ships are destroyed with an unknown number of mines remaining should that automatic flagging be triggered.
