Re: one of Gandalf\'s Crazy Maps
This map would not work for me. But with a little poking and prodding I was able to make it work.
I loaded the map into paint shop pro, converted it to a tga. Then I had to edit the map file and point it to the correct image. The original image you sent me was named max7.rgb and the MAP file was referring to max07.rgb. This was causing my Game to crash!
In retrospect, I probably could have left it an .rgb and just fixed the MAP file, but oh well it works now anyway
Thank you for taking the time to zip and host the map and image for me, it is greatly appreciated and works like a charm now!

Re: one of Gandalf\'s Crazy Maps
Ouch. I forgot that I had renamed the files because I already had one named that in my keeper directory.
I probably will wait for the next patch before selecting a map for me to put alot of time into. I have my favorite colors picked out and Ive been waiting a year for all the color switches to work on the maps. I was about to give up and tackle getting a paint program to change the sea border colors manually.

Re: one of Gandalf\'s Crazy Maps
Quick question for you gandalf.
I would like to host this map on my second computer and play it on my main system. I notice that you play alot of these larger games and I was curious if you could tell me the most minimalistic setting switches for such a server?
What I am looking for is a way to host the game on my other computer and it host each turn as fast as possible with the least overhead.
Thanks

Re: one of Gandalf\'s Crazy Maps
windows? linux? mac?
dom3 -ST
It will prompt for all of the questions and running in text mode removes almost all of the overhead for running the game. Of course there are a couple of pages of switches for tweaking beyond that, or for automating parts of the setup when you get tired of putting answers into the prompts each time you start a game, but thats the easiest starting command for you.
