Re: Casual PBEM (looking for players)
I think a set schedule of some sort is best--anywhere from once to 3X per week?
Leaving things indefinite is going to encourage straggling.

Re: Casual PBEM (looking for players)
Hi all
It's a lot of people indeed, and thus quite likely there will be delays. Just looking at my situation: I could probably play 2 to 7 turns a week, depending on my Real Life activities . But there will definitely be times and can't make a turn for a whole weekend (though that will not be often), and I'm planning a 10-day skiing holiday somewhere in the coming 2 months (but that's just once). That's why I tried to set up the Casual Game.
If the 10-day holiday is problematic, I could transfer control to another player for that period, and skip a few turns. Not so good for my strategic planning of course, but hey, at least I'll save some gold ;-)
I agree with some here that if certain people are consistently delaying the game, we should host anyway, or if it gets really out of hand, replacing him with a computer player, if everyone agrees. I'll set up a master password for such a case (don't worry, I see no fun at all in cheating).
Let's just see how it goes for now and find out what the 'natural' pace is and go from there. For the next 2 weeks, I can probably play a turn each evening.
I'll try and start the game tomorrow evening (GMT). I contacted Manuk by email and personal message some times, but he has not responded yet. He sent a pretender last week but it was already taken by Micah.

yeah, and the last thing I want to have to worry about while being casual is consensus-building over how long is too long =)

Re: Casual PBEM (looking for players)
How about it just hosts whenever the host gets all the files; with 3 days being the max for a stale without an excuse/notification?

Re: Casual PBEM (looking for players)
We can start the game.
As it's my first time, just to be sure:
Which files should I send you now, and then each turn?
I have:
- ftherlnd
- both map files (.rgb and .map)
- all .trn files
- all .2h files

Re: Casual PBEM (looking for players)
You must send the .rgb and .map files so that players have the map. You must also send the .trn files (the *turn* files) to all players. We, the players, after making our moves will send you the .2h files which you put in the game folder (by the way tell us the name of the game also). You host, and then send us the .trn files.
Rinse and repeat.

Thx Sorlakind.
I am sending the files to all of your email addresses in a 5 MB ZIP file.
The game name is:
CasualPBEMGame1
Let me know if you did not receive it!
Have fun!

Re: Casual PBEM (looking for players)
I don't know, my thought is for nice casual game a 10 day break (or whatever) should be fine, no big deal. The idea of having a set hosting schedule is to keep the game moving along at a reasonable pace whenever there is not a reason not to, but we can be pretty flexible as long as we're not just wondering if we're ever gonna hear back from somebody. FWIW, I second the suggestion for a 3 day max turn window without an excuse/reason. I'd also suggest that everbody try to take their turns as fast as they comfortably can whenever they don't have a reason not to...which is to say it'd be nice if some turns took less than 3 days.
