Re: Wings 3d x-file exporter acting funny
It has 248 vertices and no faces at all. If you haven't changed your software (upgraded?) and it was working before, double check your settings because it is not exporting all the information.

Re: Wings 3d x-file exporter acting funny
What version of wings are you using? Can I see the .wings file so I can try reproducing the error? It seems strange that your model would have vertices but no faces, and I'm sure you could tell if you opened it up in wings - it would be invisible there, too!

Re: Wings 3d x-file exporter acting funny
I'm using the only version of Wings that will even recognize the exporter, 0.98.36
The model looks fine in wings3d... In fact, when I export it to 3ds to paint it in deep paint, it's fine too. The only thing that doesn't work is exporting it in x format. I haven't modified any of the exporter settings. Do I need to?
I've attached the wings file.

Re: Wings 3d x-file exporter acting funny
Just a thought... have you tried fiddling with the scale factor (and maybe the model radius) in your shipset data files? I think you have to set the scale factor pretty big or small (either something like 400 or 0.0025) for it to scale properly - Wings models are scaled to small numbers like 3 or 5 units while SE5 models are expected to be hundreds of units across, if I recall correctly... If I had a working .X viewer I'd take a look at it but the current version of the DirectX SDK only works with Windows Vista or something so I'll have to revert to an old version in order to view the model

Re: Wings 3d x-file exporter acting funny
I pulled the x file up in Deep Explorer and it says that there are no faces.

Re: Wings 3d x-file exporter acting funny
I could try messing with the scale, but when I looked at it in the shipset viewer I zoomed in all the way and there was still nothing there.

Re: Wings 3d x-file exporter acting funny
Hmm, no faces... That's really odd! I'll have to install the October 2006 DirectX SDK so I can view the model... Blender gives an error when trying to import it but I don't know if that's a problem with the model or with Blender... but if there are no faces then something is definitely wrong! I thought I checked the x file to see if the faces were defined, and it looks like they are, so I wonder what could be going on...
Just on a lark, try setting the triangulate option when you export to .X - I noticed you had all quads in your model, and perhaps applications require .X files to be triangulated (I've heard they have to be), even though the format technically supports faces with any number of sides (or at least it's SUPPOSED to, from what I read on it when I wrote the exporter...)

Re: Wings 3d x-file exporter acting funny
Ok, tried that and still no luck. I can't imagine it could be a problem with the model. It exports to 3ds just fine, and I tried it with a completely different model and it doesn't show up either. I've tried triangulation, and quadrangulation but neither seems to have any effect.
I'm attaching the triangulated one.
