You guys rock! I knew it was something simple and never even thought of the command lines (dos days are long gone).

Thanks

K, only thing I'm missing now are the different victory conditions - I see VP, how about dominion or provinces?

Is this an inclusive list or partial? --dominion and --province don't work, just curious.

Makes me very happy as is though

randomly wierd thing too - after running the bat file and selecting new game, I can't cancel out to the main menu. Had to actually alt-tab and shut down the process. No worries, just odd.

Strange .. what are your command line options, and which version of Dom are you running ?
I just tried the line gandalf gave above, and canceling out of the "new game" screen worked just fine. But then, I only have 3.01 and 3.03 installed atm ... .

Or do you simply mean the button is not there? It is - scroll down the list of maps or use the X in the upper left corner of the grey-brown frame.

Nope, buttons there it will only cancel me back to the nation selection screen. Didn't finish creating the game then just quit w/o saving so not quite sure there. Using the following, 3.06

C:\Games\dominions3\dom3.exe -facd --mapfile Faerun_Ran_x_2_nostart.map --hofsize 15 --indepstr 8 --magicsites 75 --eventrarity 1 --startprov 4 --renaming --era 1

I'm not sure if this is really a bug or just weird behaviour ;-)

Actually, it's only impossible to take back some menue selection which has been preset by command-line option.

Setting up a game goes like this:
new game => choose map => select Era => choose players => game settings

In your case, it's the "--era 1" that prevents you from going back.
If you leave that one out, you can cancel back to the era-selection screen, but not to the map selection screen, because you pre-set the map with "--mapfile" as well.

But I agree that there should be at least a possiblity to cancel the game setup when running full-screen. ALT-TAB and killing the process isn't the way to do it, and even ALT-ENTER to switch to windowed version to get the "X" in the windows' window frame to appear isn't really that hot either :/

I'll put it into the bug database, but I cannot assure we'll get a fix for this ... .

hmm, well since i went the xxx.cmd route I'll just make it a EA_Faerun.cmd and then a more generic one

I was wondering if it was something on my end or standard, but that explanation definitely makes sense. I'll just toss a couple bat files together for the randomized maps i like to remake till I "cheat" and get a good position. Which so doing has me currently being attacked on 5 sides - smart huh
