Re: Final History List - See if the new game is worth it....
"Drop troops" as a component ability REQUIRED to launch troops, just like sats or mines or drones.
Cargo ships aren't typically designed to land on planetary surfaces, but rather to hold lots of cargo. So, you'd include components such as "drop pods", or "planetary assault shuttles".

sure it will, design the space monsters as a race and with their cool ships and all, and give them cloaking level 6. they will pop out of nowhere to ravage space / fleets / planets, but every so often you will hear them slam into your minefields.

Re: Final History List - See if the new game is worth it....
Make sure to give them no colony ability and allow them to make bases that cloak their planets using this ability on a component:
Ability 1 Type := Sector - Sight Obscuration
Ability 1 Descr := Renders all vehicles and/or planets within sector invisible to normal sensors.
Ability 1 Val 1 := 10
Ability 1 Val 2 := 0
This way, they will not be a real empire, and you won't be able to locate their "spawning grounds," so they will always be around. Also, make their techs cheap and powerful, so single "monsters" would still be threatening in later stages of the game. Make them xenophobes, so that they will not make treaties.

SJ - Ahhh I see what you mean. I would like this added too. You would think it would be easy to do. Too bad it isn't on the list.
What I really was hoping to see (aside from monsters) was new planetary facilities. Like cloaks and engines. Imagine the power of cloacked planet waship. Mwahahahahahaha.

Re: Final History List - See if the new game is worth it....
I like the idea that Imperator F and Zero A mentioned. Create a race where 1 of their racial traits is that they start the game with the ability and/or cloaked planets. The planets stay hidden in a system until you research and deploy say a scanner to level 3 or more either on your ships or a planet in the same system as one of their planets. Their ships could also start with the cloaking ability. Imagine getting hit by an enemy where you can't find or locate their planets. My opinion only, this would definitly liven or juice up the game. You could even put it as an option for those who don't like the idea...

See P&N for BattleMoons to get your fix
A BattleMoon can easily generate as many shield points as a Massive Planetary Generator III does (50K).

Re: Final History List - See if the new game is worth it....
One problem with bases cloaking a sector is that any of your ships that enter the sector will also be hidden. So, it would be possible to locate the hidden planets before you have good enough sensors, but it would be very time consuming.
Also, instead of making the cloaked planets have a high cloak level, get rid of the gravitic sensors component and make a new component that using the gravitic sensor ability. Make the planet-cloaker have level 10 in all cloaks except gravitic, which it will have level 1 or 2 in. Make the regular cloaking device and stealth armor have level 10 gravitic cloaking. Make the monsters ships have these same cloaking abilities. The "monster-radar" would have level 2 gravitic scanner, so it would be able to locate cloaked monsters, but nothing else. No other scanner could locate the cloaked monsters. The current gravitic sensors are completely useless, cause they are a lot more expensive to research than other forms of sensors, and they are exactly as effective. This way, you could create a special technology that would allow you to discover and eradicate the monsters.
And by the way, I am 99% sure that the sector obscuration ability does not work when placed on a facility.
