Re: Update To Version 3.08 Of Dominions 3 Today!
I think I must be the only player here who is less than impressed with Blade Wind. I rarely see Blade Wind kill more than a handful of troops per casting, but Magma Eruption and Cloud of Death wipe them out in spades. Why not empower a Cyclops to F1 and cast Magma Eruption?
Grumble, grumble.

Blade wind is good against low armored troops. Cast destruction first to destroy enemies armor, and then commbine blade wind with aim or eagle eyes, and it can be lethal.

I think it's just that it's the right spell at the right time. You can use one powerful caster to hit as well as a whole expensive, fragile squad of archers, and you don't have to stop at one. The problem is the lack of a good defense in the era, and-I'd argue-the fact that their aren't that many spells that are nearly this effective, at 0 gem cost.

Re: Update To Version 3.08 Of Dominions 3 Today!
The nice thing I see about Blade Wind is that it comes fairly early in the game. The downsides are that it costs massive fatigue (80-) and more importantly that the effects are missile attacks, which means it gets blocked by shields. I agree that it's nice against unarmoured or shieldless troops, and the scattering is nice if you're using it against a mage-heavy army, but for general-purpose, gem-free destruction I'd rather have Cloud of Death or Magma Eruption.

Re: Update To Version 3.08 Of Dominions 3 Today!
I've never found the fatigue to be a huge issue. Anyone who can cast blade wind can cast Summon Earth Power, which makes the blade wind half as expensive if you reach level 4 off it. You can also forge Boots of Earth with the same caster who can cast Summon Earth Power. If you started at level 2 it's easy to hit 4 off it and spam blade wind 2-4 times a fight.

I moved Ska's two posts into the bug discussion thread, because they belong there.
