Aahhh, Ohio, what can I say, for example, In Cleveland, the great lower Harbor area was built on a Land Fill, (Garbage to those uninformed) this is where the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, Burke airport and much much more now reside, could we ask for anything more?, The air, now that most of the Steel Mills are closed and put thousands out of work, has started to improve to the point where the sea gulls aren't dropping dead and falling from the sky, and the pigeon droppings on our buildings, where else could you get such cheap fertilizer? And then there's Hopikins International airport, driving there is such an experience, especially if you don't know where you're going, it brings tears to the eyes just thinking about it, then there's the Cleveland Indian who choke in the playoffs and are dismantled by managment to the point they will be lucky to place 3rd in their division, yes these are only some of the benefits you'd experience by visiting, I would say from those misinformed parties who gave you those inaccurate statements concerning us, just have never bothered to stop and take it all in, but they are probably from out west somewhere where all they get is that digustable mountain air. What do they know???

just some ideas mac

(Disclaimer: everything here is in Jest, and is not meant to demean any city or state) have to put this in, in case someone takes the wrong way

Growltigga - Glad to hear you survived the great adventure! Arizona in the winter is about as tough as you can get. The high is only supposed to get up to the mid 70s today in Chandler.

Sounds like Canyon de Chelly was fun. I hope the rest of your sight-seeing turned out as well. Sorry, no snow for you though. I suspect we are going to have a problem this summer as we aren't getting much precipitation this year. Oh well, it won't be the first time.

AK, I really enjoyed Arizona - I must admit that it wasn't my initial first choice of holiday destination but having gone there, I did enjoy it.

spent a few days in Pheonix, had a good laugh at ALice Cooper'stown - a young lady showed me her surgically enhanced breasts within 10 minutes of my being in there, got to go to the Sun Devils/Golden State basketball ball game on the Friday - went to a brewery in Tempe with steaks to follow at Monti's (food was shocking so didnt pay the bill) - even did Phoenix zoo - could have slapped the locals for going incessantly on about how cold it was

Based the rest of the time out of Flagstaff and Page - did the Grand Canyon, Monument Valley, Canyon de Chelly (excellent, phenomenal steer from you there), Lake Powell - did 1450 miles in 5 days - got a police warning for speeding, had to dig a truck out of ice in Canyon de Chelly, was attacked by a porcupine (I fell on it), locked the car keys in the trunk up beyond Monument Valley in Utah

Packed a lot in in the time

Overall, I think you live in a very attractive state. Phoenix could do with losing some of the sprawl but anywhere that has the Biltmore Shopping Plaza where you buy Ralph Lauren shirts for under $20 is ok with me

The one downside of all however is Lil' Dittys Bar in Phoenix Live in the Arizona Centre. Have you been there? there is absolutely no excuse for this sort of venue - shocking is all I can say

So the net response is that Ohio is the cloaca maxima of the free world. Something in between a cess pool and a dead dog covered in maggots, save without the charm.

Remind me to never pop in and see you

Your disclaimer was funny, here in the UK, your remarks could be counted as fair comment so now worries there

GT, just wanted you to know, the "Shiva Option" is out by Weber & White, but only in hardback, I love the story, but they want $27 for the hardback copy, I love to read but $27 is a little much, probably wait for the paperback to come out in several months.

Also, Kidding aside, Ohio is a nice state, you just have to overlook some of the oddities just like in any other city. Do have some beuuutifl sites, also Kings Island, Cedar Point, among others.

PS: I think all of us here would like to hear more about the "attack of the Porcupine" and just what you were doing to be mugged by one of nature's innocent wonders (LOL)

Yeah, cheers for this Mac, I saw the hardback copy (at $27 a pop) in a WH SMith at Hartsfield, Atlanta Last Thursday/Friday- I really was churned about whether to buy it or not as (a) I feel one should support specialist producers such as Baen (b) I only had $35 in cash left (I didnt know I would be bouncing back to Boston in 4 hours of landing home) and (c) the 1.75 litre bottle of Jack Daniels Reserve was $33 and I couldn't afford both and (d) Mrs GT wanted the cash to spend on some clinique make-up - my remark that polyfilla or anything other industrial grouter would work just as well left me limping for the next 6 hours

I am only kidding about Ohio - I have never really been there other than Cleveland - that does tarnish one's perception you know
