Default Re: Are there special Forces in winspmbt such as

I think outside specific scenarios such as the Son Tay one and the a possible Eagle Claw scenario adding in certain special operations units in is difficult. The scope of the game really makes it hard to do hostage rescue and other isolated counter-terrorism missions, which is the focus of Delta Force, and a primary mission of the SAS. The mission of US Army Special Forces involves a great deal more than situations that might involve combat, and things like long-range recon is a very small portion of what they are tasked with.

Groups like the SEALs and Spetznaz, which have had and continue to have a role in combat operations are included because its easier to see their function in game. You'll notice this for LRRPs and Rangers in the US OOB, and Force Recon in the USMC OOB. For nations where their special operations forces are more commando oriented you'll see that they've been added in too.

Of all the units in the OOB I created for such things for my Vietnam Specific pack, the US Army Special Forces are perhaps the ones that are least historically accurate. I toy with removing them all the time, because you'd never see a whole C Detachment deployed all at once on the battlefield. Heh, for the next release I might, now that there are a huge swath of other equally special units to choose from.
