Re: How to handle early game(MP) of EA Agartha ?
I'm playing Agartha as well, and early on, I built nothing but as many ancient ones as my holy would let me and filled the ranks out with Trogs. I didn't build a single pale one until later on in the game. I have a sucky bless (N4) but blessing those ancient ones really helps. I think the pale ones are next to worthless. The trogs are great against indies. Even against real troops they aren't too bad.

I've never used the Trogs to a great extent. I always supported my Ancient Ones with pale one warriors of various equipment.

Troglodytes are amazing. Only size 4(iirc) but 50 gold, very tough tramplers capable of holding their own in combat against other large enemies.

Endoperez, you've got to try even just 5 supporting Troglodytes when expanding. When you move them further to the rear, you avoid the high death rate that is the result of the barbarians somehow getting in the first hit. They're pretty fast, too, so an attack rear is viable and deadly.

i never use troglodytes though, only the lords. the difference between a troglodyte and a troglodyte lord is: a troglodyte dies where a troglodyte lord kills.

Re: How to handle early game(MP) of EA Agartha ?
arg after evaluating this thread I decided to go for a bless strat I took a archmage F4W9N6 3 order, 2 growth, 3 heat 3 death 3 misfortune magic neutral imprisoned
the bless seemed all I needed, the cheap F4 gives the much needed attackskill and water and nature are obvious too...
All fine in theory..
turn 1: famine 1/5 of pop gone and unrest 98 = no income
SO I decide to attack the 10 troglodites next to me I mean I got my start army a earth reader AND 6 or 7 ancient ones..
and... I loose nearly everything.. I forgot to send the priest and thus my nice bless strat was worthless.. the paleones got tramples when reaching the first trogs and the ancient ones took casualties and fled..
Tomorrow I'll try again.. I'm sure the bless I decided on is a good one for the race.. only to pay for it I needed misfortune.. and when playing misfortune you need to be lucky not to get to unfortunate on the first turns... and not to screw up in general

Re: How to handle early game(MP) of EA Agartha ?
Early Agartha can recruit Troglodytes. I've read that when massed, Troglodytes work very well. The initial shock causes lots of damage very quickly, and they can take a few hits, so they can kill and rout relatively strong armies without too many casualties.
