Could you remind me what mages EA Atlantis gets?

What have you tried so far, and how early are you talking?
Late game, Mid game (6), early (tier 3), or panic (guess who's next door)?

Oh, and Claymen can make decent mindless chaff. I think some of the earth summons are mindless as well. Claymen may not look that great, but they can be devestating with a hammer and 13 strength when the best protection R'lyeh gets is 12.

Another screenshot - this one showing the sharks.

Sorry, but it looks like the attachment did not work properly the first go around. I think it is working now. How does one go about imbedding images anyway?

That looks messy!

Nice tactic though.

Shark attack+hordes of regenerating sea trolls does provide huge amounts of chaff. If they reach melee with the mind blasters some-how they should take care of them and even if they dont they could still take some hits.

Spamming Earth and Water elementals might work.

Yes, I have considered spamming elementals. I think I may try that in combination with some uber magic resistant Basalt King decoys out front, and of course a large number of troops in case I actually break through into their troops.

The problem with elementals is that they come in relatively small numbers, and they show up next to the casting mage. Unless you want all your mages to be in the front line, the elementals are not going to do much good. If the casting mages are further back in the formation, the battle will largely be determined before the elementals see any action or absorb any mind blasts.

I reiterate - Shark Attack is awesome. Not only does it produce huge numbers of deadly sharks, but the sharks show up in the manner of Howl, i.e. they come from all sides. This means that at least a subset bypass the chaff and go right for the rear contingent (mages - mindblasters and the sort). Size and proximity rules will cause them to be targeted preferentially, absorbing huge numbers of mindblasts, and allowing your troops to close into combat.

The previous screenshot that I posted was early in the fight. But the sharks just keep coming (see new attached screenshot to see what I mean).
