Re: More planet sizes
Me.
I've already made some changes to the file in my mod, but it wouldn't be too hard to merge more changes in.
My only concern is whether it works, despite the crazy null-planets problem I had when I tried to do it myself.

Re: More planet sizes
I made a simple mod for Moons. Based on our solar system, most planets have moons of various sizes.
I put all the known moons in our solar system into various catagories. Made three differents sizes for Tiny and then used small and medium size plantets for moons. In fact in some systems the only colonizable 'planets' could be the Gas Giants moons.
For the three sizes of tiny, I used the same bit map picture, but the tiny moons could be different sizes.
Mod was posted for 1.49. I was planing on updating it once the Gold Version is released.

Re: More planet sizes
SJ, Jsut out of curiosity about your Null planet problem. Were you specifiying the new planet sizes in your systemtypes.txt file?
Admiral had a planet size mod that had the same problems with null planets. We got it to work by removing any instance in the systemtypes file where it was specifying one of the new planet sizes. As long as we let it only use the new sizes for the "any size" planets it worked fine and we had no null planets. If you can confirm this it might be worth sending to malfador as a possible bug.

Re: More planet sizes
Interesting theory.
I wanted to use those new types specifically as moons, and "any size" dosen't work that way
So, yes, I was specifying them explicitly.
If you're right, then I could use the tiny label for the micro moons, and space out the larger names, since it would be OK to randomly pick them...

Re: More planet sizes
Well right now it's just a theory. It's been several months since I dealt with it and I am not sure I am remembering it exactly right. I know at one point we were getting null planets, and in the end we weren't. It seems like that was what we figured out was causing it. I would be interested to see if anyone can confirm that independantly.

Re: More planet sizes
I ran into the same problem once when I attempted to make random generated systems include a few ring worlds and sphere worlds.
