Re: Making notes on a map - suggestion
A while back, there was a thread that discussed alternate programs for taking/organizing notes.

I do agree that the system noets feature leaves much to be desired. However I did notice something interesting just today. If you make notes on a system, you can see them without actually clicking on the system. In the galaxy map view, if you mouse over each system it shows notes if there are any in the bottom margin. What would be really nice though is if you could highlight the systems that have notes without having to mouse over them. And it would also be nice to see the notes on the system map somewhere.

I use this all the time to gauge borders... but it doesn't work if another empire decides to claim NO systems in that map. I've seen a few players do that....

Re: Making notes on a map - suggestion
Knowing where each enemy is not AS difficult, nor as important. first of all i usualy just remember their location, works fine for me. But i never played too seriously, now i plan some serious games.
Most useful seems to be the combination of both - put notes in important systems, and write the strategies, plans, whatever in notepad. Or on a paper.

Re: Making notes on a map - suggestion
If you actually claim the systems that you have planets in then you are either:
a) 250+% better htan everyone and can be arrogant and powerful like that
b) are really dumb beacuse now your enemies just found out somethign about without doing any work. Wanna know how some people always know where the AI is? or where you are? I just turn on random places and get dumb folks to send their entire fleets looking for my 40 soem planets all in 3 systems. Hello?
Sorry about that flamboyant and flameish remark but really, u shouldn't claim systems.

Re: Making notes on a map - suggestion
Works fine in a non-RP game, but pull that stunt with people RPing, and you'll probably get put down like a rabid dog Too insane to be left around..
