Re: My first Shipset, The Slaanesh, Need Feedback
I agree with the observation below, by the look this race is supposed to be organic, especialy if talking about bases and fighters. By the description, all of their lives spin around their belief in Daemon Gods - worship them and sacrifice ppl to them, making a perfect description for a religious race.
For the images themselves, the ships are quite good for a first racestyle.
Some of the ships remind me of some of the original ships but they are nice and i cant trace where they go to.
One more thing. The fighters are cool, but kinda outa of the place with their unusual texture.
Overall, well done. Havent checked the AI yet.

Re: My first Shipset, The Slaanesh, Need Feedback
Thank you all for the very rapid positive feedback. It’s great to get recognition and that sort of thing just keeps the creative fires lit.
And if you are not pumped up by the pictures yet, check this out, a Slaanesh Fleet ScreenSaver! 1015002417.zip This is an 800x600 bmp format and IMHO these ships look much better against a light background.
In reply to some of the very kind feedback...
Yes, I did the race pic. The first attempt looked like a pale Version of Neelix...This one looks more sinister.
The transports are flat for 2 reasons. My original concept of giant mile long transports looked good, but didn't format well into the 36 x 36 or 128 x 128 formats used by the game. The ones you see are something of a compromise between the original idea and the mechanics of the game. As to the flatness, I tried out different Versions of the medium transport with a x-pattern body, doubled the middle section and hung it underneath the main body, etc.. but none appeared that much larger or dramatic. The really long / flat Version conveys size yet works well in the square display format of the game.
Good comment on PD tech... I'll fix that.
Nope, don't play BFGothic, just 40k and WHFB.
Do the rest of Chaos in their own shipsets? Goodness sakes No! Well, at least no time soon. This little project has taken already too much of my time and my wife is now giving me "the look" whenever I decent into my man-cave in the basement late at night to crank these guys out.

Re: My first Shipset, The Slaanesh, Need Feedback
Good to see more WH40K fans. Havn't looked at them much yet, but will try to over the weekend.
Emporer's Child - Would you be willing to make a second set of your troops in Khorne colors for me? I am almost done with a Chaos Fleet (nice beat up looking Red color), pretty much done with the ships based of of BFG, but I am running behind on the troops and fighters.
I agree with you not giving them either organic or religeous; and if you were to consider them religeous they should also be psychic. I would suggest that you kept the prop. expert thoughout to keep with the BFG theme of chaos ships having a speed advantage over the Imperial and Ork ships. It also would fit the BFG style better to give them a nice attack bonus to represent them typically having longer range weapons that the other races in BFG.
I'll repost the Orks for the Gold Version once the Gold Version is out for any of you that want them.

Well, uh.... Sure! Even misguided Khorne followers need troops to conquer the rest of the galaxy with. Here they are: 1015007987.zip

Havn't been on in a while, busy waiting for Gold and playing Wizardry 8. But I thought I see what all the fuss is about. All I have to say is 'Holy!...' Thats a mighty fine shipset you got going there. Keep up the good work (esp love the color and attention to small detail).

You hooked on Wiz8 too? It's been drastically cutting into my SEIV time. Terrible, these addictive games!

Just took a look at your race and tested it in my game. It plays pretty nice.
I love the shipsets. They are awesome. Keep up the good work.
