Re: llamaserver email madness
Basically the scheme was like this:
if (llamaServer receives a 2h file from a newer version) then
- Send out an e-mail to everyone
- Postpone all hostings by 24 hours
- Shut self down
Unfortunately the last step there was malfunctioning, due to a missing and crucial '>'. So it did the same thing every five minutes over the whole night. Also it postponed all hostings till February! But I've fixed that now.
The difficulty really was that I had no way to test it when I wrote it. Normally I test things quite a lot to be sure they work (I seem to suffer from rampant typos). So I was worried it might not work, but it never occurred to me that it would go crazy.

Re: llamaserver email madness
That was a sign: you should embark on a career in unsolicited bulk messaging instead of messing with these strange PBEMs.

Re: llamaserver email madness
Well I was thinking, if I'd only signed a deal to include a viagra advert in all those e-mails I could be loaded now!
(not really of course, it only sent O(20000) e-mails(!), which is nothing compared to a genuine spamming campaign, and of course repeating the recipients makes it much less effective!)
Does anyone want any viagra, by the way?

Re: llamaserver email madness
Once I manage to regain the magical lands where sex is a reallity instead of a myth I'll remember your offer. For now I'm not in any urgent need of Viagra though, thanks.
Edit: Obviously this is just a joke and any possible similarity to any real life person, activity, or lack thereoff is purely coïncidential.
