These two concepts would have built on and scaled up the work done on the Ka-22 Vintokyrlya (NATO name = Hoop) of which the Soviets built several examples for flight trials. It seems the Ka-22 program died because of transmission trouble, and official mistrust of such a radical looking aircraft, and that in turn ended all work on the larger versions.
