It keeps giving me an error saying it can't find catgod.exe.
How did you unzip the file? - guess you unzipped the files, but not the folders ..
You should have a folder structure like this:
Code:

[folder: doc]
|__ readme.txt
[folder: lib]
|__ [folder: inifile]
|__ catgod.exe

application.ini
catgui.exe

yes I got that structure, and followed the readme instructions about emptying the .ini file (I only emptied the application.ini file). Still doesn't work.

There shouldn't be any other file named .ini within the catgod folders!
The others are ini.tcl etc. ...

The error is strange indeed.
Please tell me what OS you're running it on etc., and exactly what the wording of the error message is and what you're doing from unzipping up to the point where you get the error.

Should go something like this:
  • Unzipping files&structure to d:\tools\catgood\
  • starting catgodGUI.exe
  • Setting the Dominions directory from "Dominions" -> "Configure Dom Settings" -> "Dom 3 Main Directory : d:\games\dominions"; Newlords directory snaps to d:\games\dominions\savedgames\newlords automatically -> "Return"
  • Selecting "File" -> "Re-scan ..."
  • Getting some text displayed

OK...pretty much what I did, except I unzipped in the savedgames folder, not the savedgames/newlords folder. You are right, the only .ini file I have in there is applications.ini. The other ini file is actually ini.tcl and two other .tcl files. I don't think mine newlords directory went there automatically, I think I had to navigate it there, but that is pretty easy. I just clicked on browse and and then opened the "+" signs until newlords showed up and clicked on it. Here is the message I got.

1) Do not unzip catgodGUI into the Dominions folders, unzip it elsewhere. You only need to tell it via "configure" option where the dominions folder is.

2) catgod is found ok, but it cannot read from the newloards directory : You have everything installed to "C:\Program Files\" .. what is exactly the case in which things don't work because of the "space" character in the path name. It's more a bug in Windoze than everything else, but most likely won't get fixed, ever. Therefore we have to devise a workaround, but I'm too busy to work on catgodGUI atm. For more details look here: http://www.shrapnelcommunity.com/thr...&Number=529764

Workaround for you would be to move the dominions folder somewhere else (no need to re-install, Dominions doesn't really care where it is run from) and adjust your start menue entries accordingly, or make new ones. E.g. move the dominions folder to c:\dominions3 or c:\games\dominions3 or whatever ...
