Re: KG Griffin the Alt History Campaign Continues
War Diary, SSKG Griffin 18 Oct 1945,
Our road move to the assembly area has been a slow but steady trek. The thing, which struck us most, was we were now really in a desert, the hellish heat and sand, sand in everything. We had no real idea except some of our DAK veterans what a difference being off the coast would make. Our Arab guides were most helpful and changes in our uniforms, routines and pace have made this bearable. My main concern has been keeping my men and machine in top form, as we know the enemy lurks across these burning sands.
I’ve managed to get attached 4 Recce Gps which are leading are advance and I’m told I have 2 Bn of 17 cm on call should we have to tangle with one of these Allied Probes. This seems likely, as my Recce Hubz I sent out has spotted a large amount of activity at sundown before we stopped for our rest period. They can only be bent on our assembly area in the EL Guarir. The morning sun shall see the chaos of battle once again, for this ancient land I wonder how many times this has been so. We shall move off at midnight and hope to catch our foe of guard.

Re: KG Griffin the Alt History Campaign Continues
War Diary, SSKG Griffin 19 Oct 1945,
First light, I knew they were out there, my two Hubz Gps had reported back and engaged enemy Recce Elements to the north and to the south of the day’s objectives. My main concern now was to get my KG turned into the enemies face before we got hit in our flank. Coming down from the north made this no easy task, as I need to do this without losing my KG’s punch.
Two actions I ordered bought time, I had ordered my Hubz to keep some distance but to harass their lead elements when possible. This had the effect of slowing them down and a bonus of getting HE harassing fire into their ranks as well. Two Hubz had expended their entire heavy ordinance in this phase and had to land to rearm. In concert with this all my forward Recce had been ordered at speed to occupy our objective areas and hold until relieved. Boxer Kp with elements of Casino and Deckrüde Kps were sent towards our north most targets. Adler Kp with the remainder moved along the roads to occupy the crossroads and the road leading west. All units were under orders to engage targets even at long range, again, to slow the enemy’s advance.
Splitting my Panzers as such has paid off as my Jaguars had some successes out to 3kms in the clear morning desert air making it possible to see out to 5kms. As morning sun quickly took its place in the sky the western road objective was taken but was under fire. The CO of Casino Kp figured 10 more minutes before he would arrive to help out. At roughly the same time the CO of Adler Kp reported in that the north most objectives were being overrun by our units. Enemy reaction there had been mostly knocked out leaving some weak resistance. I was assured that within the hour those objectives would be secured.
Several Jabo’s made rocket and cannon attacks on SS Artillerie Abt Griffin, which was sited in the Hills over looking the crossroads. One Hummel was damaged and an Ammo Halftrack was destroyed, I hoped my Hubz rearmed before another likely attack came. Within 30 or so minutes, the enemy had taken scattered KO’d vehicles across my area of concern, plus it appeared we had eliminated all armoured support in the north of the battle area.

Re: KG Griffin the Alt History Campaign Continues
There is indeed more. The first and last posts contain the new files. The first has a whole load of tank destroyers and the HS30s the last one has the improved (there were some colour issues) Heavy tank files and some other goodies. Trust me, these are new.

Re: KG Griffin the Alt History Campaign Continues
You know now I'm a little muddled, where did you post these? Or can you do so here. I'm pretty sure I DO NOT have these. Thanks RM.

Re: KG Griffin the Alt History Campaign Continues
RM
I only had a few of these, and certainly no Helo's.
I'm floored, like a kid in a candy store, I've gone from zero choices to I don't know were to start. I've got some work ahead, but it will look so good when trundling around the battlefield. Your armour is grand, and the air choices helos included give me much room to play with. I'm glad to see you and me are like minded when it comes to main guns on these beasts, I never thought a secondary main gun was useful much less practical...... I'm tempted to go back to work on units and restart my campaign, but the Buffalo is still in progress so I'll wait.. Many Many thanks for the hours you've obviously put into these gems.
Bravo Zulu to you my friend.
