Ringworlds and Map Editor
I am trying to start my PBW game (Adamant 003), which will have everyone start on a Ringworld. The editor won't let me change them to anything but Rock/None. I know I have done this before, and it worked then. I can't get it to work now. Can anybody give me some help? This is for SEIV 1.49, btw.
Here's what I did:
1) Created customs systems and quadrant in data files.
2) Generated the map in SEIV, cause the map editor likes crashing itself when I try to do this in it.
3) Located suitable starting locations for each empire, and placed starting locations so that it would take less time later.
4) Deleted the star at the 1st starting location.
5) Placed a Ringworld, and set the type/atmosphere to the correct values (such as Ice/Oxygen).
6) Checked the Ringworld to make sure I did it right. The type was Rock/None.
I won't post the map file, due to security reasons. Here are the data files I edited:

Re: Ringworlds and Map Editor
not directly, but I've got a workaround. It requires running a few turns offline and a little data file fiddling though.
Start the game as normal; make sure everyone is actually ON their ringworlds. Now, scrap one facility- probably the resupply depot. Go into the data files, copy the atmosphere converted, and make the new converter require no tech and go MUCH faster. Build the new converter, let them do their work, scrap them, build the resupply depot again, change the data files back, start the game. The turn date won't match up to the PBW date, but I can't think of any fix for that.

I have Gold. This game was started months ago (before the PBW dark age), and not everyone in it has Gold. So, it will remain v1.49.

Ringworlds get replaced by Huge planets if they aren't the proper atmosphere and type for the race that starts on them. So, that won't work.

Re: Ringworlds and Map Editor
I have SE4 1.49, the editor is 1.41. Have generated a map with SE4, saved it, loaded the map with the Editor, added a Ringworld, changed it to Hydro/gas, saved it and finally started a game with it with an Ancient Empire race. The Ringworld shows the correct atmospehre and planet type.

Re: Ringworlds and Map Editor
Yeah, I've done it before, a long time ago. But it isn't working for me right now. Did you get rid of the star and replace it with a Ringworld, or did you simply add a Ringworld to the system?

Re: Ringworlds and Map Editor
Well, i think your problem is that you try to CHANGE the atmosphere and planet type AFTER creating the RW, if you change it to the proper values while you add the RW it will work fine.
