Re: CD version
Pats what I do (24" 1920x1200) is set the game fullscreen and 1600x1200. It still stretches of course, but it is not that much of a trouble after a few hours.
It is sad that the game does not support widescreen resolutions, but don't forget how old this engine really is.

I have NO problem running the game on a widescreen monitor and neither does Andy. I really do NOT understand why people insist on running the game full screen. That was only left in to accomodate old operating systems.

Because I have the taskbar located on the left side since Windows 98 IIRC, and I have no intention on changing it any time soon. As you are aware there are problems when the taskbar is located there. In my case the window of the game appears like a very short, rectangular box, impossible to read or play. (native resolution 1920x1200, game resolution 1600x1280)
I don't complain about it since it is something that you warn about, thus, no windowed version for me and why I informed him/her to what I do, in fullscreen mode.
EDIT: One more thing. I was wrong about the resolution I play the game in fullscreen mode. I actualy have it at 1024x768, because at 1600x1280 the text but most importantly the mini map are very small and almost useless (mini map).
While the game runs fine in windowed mode at 1024x768, the window is too small for the monitor (24"). So I run it in fullscreen, with some stretching, but much easier to play, and still better looking than the 800x600 resolution of the free version of the game.
