Re: Any Interest in another Big Game this summer(M
Has there been any progress on combining llama and Vel or lch's scripts to make a hybrid PBEM/IP server where people can use either or both methods to take their turns? I'd think that if you simply ran both scripts at once on the same machine, that'd work. This megagame would be a perfect opportunity to try out some new and experimental scripting scheme
I'd also like to try and put together a 900-province wrap-around map using a tileset. Maybe I've just been playing too much Carcasonne .

I'd be interested in this. I had fun in the Perpetuality vise grip.

A tileset should do the trick. You'll need some tiles though. A tileset compilation would be a nice project for the map/mod forum.
I'm quite fond of tiles too. Especially hexagonal ones, as JK can testify to

Dr P - interesting. I will think on it. But it's not likely any time soon.

Re: Any Interest in another Big Game this summer(M
I assume llamabeast's server automates the emailing of the game turns to the players? Is there a way of knowing when the next host is due? Does it quickhost?
I guess I am just use to Velusion's servers with the status page and easy login and get turn. The last PBEM game I played in died out due to staling and host delays.
I think a wrap around map would be more fair to all. It makes a big difference starting on the edge of a map. Increasing the cost of the gem producing items seems like a good idea.
Capital VP's I am not sure about since it focuses too much power on one of your provinces. Once you get to the end game whoever has astral will be able to pick off the capitals by astral travel/gateway etc.

Here is the link to Epic Heroes II that i am hosting on Llamaserver. You can see who has done there turn, and how much time remains until host. In this game quick host is off, but it can be on.
It will also show you staling information. Under administrative options.

Re: Any Interest in another Big Game this summer(M
Another thing I like about the llamaserver is if it is down for an hour, it does not push back the host time, unless the delay is near the host time.
And it is quite easy for the game admin. to delay the host or
put the hosting time at its original time if he does not think a delay in host is warranted.
It appears with the tcp/ip server you are not really guaranteed a certain hosting time like the PBEM? With power outages etc., over the course of a large mp game, you could literally be adding an additional month or more to the time it takes to complete the game.
Llamabeast has said he will set up a status page for the game so anyone can view the number of provinces etc. each race has.
I think I will start sign ups on May 1, and hopefully the race selection process can be completed by may 15, with a start sometime between May 21-June 1.
