AT did a great job on his STM. Having playtested some of the earlier versions, I can just say it took a lot of hard work by a lot of people to get it where it is today. It just doesn't happen overnight (unlike FedEx)...

I'll put in my vote for a ST mod, no matter who does it. I'd like to see AT do it, but if doesn't want to and someone else does it, it wouldn't matter to me. Just as long as there is one eventually.

Thanks for the kind words but Fyron is right, most of the modding I did was based upon the fine work of others. If I can do it, so can any one. And frankly I think there are more qualified individuals out there that can do justice to Star Trek in a far more true to nature way than I could ever possible come close to. Please go for it with my sincere blessings.

Now that Space Empires has crossed into the 3D realm,.. if we all wish hard enough perhaps SE6 will have modular ship building not only of on board components but their 3D mode equivalents,.. so we can have a choice of hulls, engines, bridges, scanners etc. that can be assembled in 3D space like leggos. having 3 engines is one thing,.. placing them is what will make for a variety of ship designs. kind of like Doga. then, maybe then more people will get hooked on modding again.

I hope that never comes to pass... Aaron has far better things to spend his time on than legos. GalCiv2 has already shown us what happens when you waste tremendous amounts of development time on it.

Would it be possible to put like 3 hulls of one size class into the game so that when you go to build your ship, could choose which hull you wanted to use for building?

You mean like in MOO2? I remember there being several "frigate" pictures, several "destroyer" pictures, etc. for each "shipset"...

Yes, and that could actually be done in SE4/5 by adding 3 copies of each vehicle size that reference different pictures/models. You would lose the ability to retrofit between hull pictures/models though. It might be interesting to see something like this codified into SE6 (naturally, the extra model calls should be optional, since having to make 3+ variants for every model is a lot of extra design work).
